A hot start to the season and a top-six point total in the WHL aided Swift Current Broncos forward Tyler Steenbergen in inking a three-year entry level contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

Steenbergen put pen to paper yesterday afternoon to eventually continue his hockey career at the professional level, adding to what's been a stellar season for the forward.

Playing in just 51 of a possible 66 games so far due to his gold-medal-winning stint with the World Junior team, Steenbergen has 98 points (44 G, 54 A), good for a lofty 1.92 points-per-game.

The Coyotes drafted the Broncos' alternate captain in the fifth round of the 2017 NHL draft after a 51-goal 2016-17 WHL campaign - Steenbergen is now set to join former Broncos' teammate Lane Pederson, who signed on with the organization as a free agent last season.

In Steenbergen's quest for his first 100-point WHL season, and the Broncos quest for first place in the Eastern Division, the squad hits the ice tonight against the Calgary Hitmen.

The Broncos host the Hitmen at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex starting at 7 p.m., and you can catch all the action live on The Eagle 94.1 for Robertson Family Group Swift Current Broncos Hockey starting at 6:30 p.m.
