Team WHL has been announced for the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series, and a couple players well known in the southwest are amongst the forwards.

Swift Current Broncos winger Tyler Steenbergen has been lighting it up to start the season. His 16 goals in nine games lead the league long shot and he's tied for first with 25 points.

He'll be joined by Shaunavon's Kole Lind, who has 17 points in nine games with the Kelowna Rockets. WIth being named to Team WHL - who has only announced 18 skaters and a pair of goalies so far - it hasn't been a bad couple days for the Vancouver Canucks prospect, as Lind turned 19 yesterday.

The WHL plays Russia in Moose Jaw November 6 and in Swift Current November 7. Broncos Head Coach Manny Viveiros will be an assistant to Moose Jaw's Tim Hunter on the bench for both games, while Swift Current's athletic trainer, James LeBlanc, will join them.
