After putting up blistering numbers over two games this past week, and being named the WHL Player of the Week on Monday, Swift Current Broncos centreman Tyler Steenbergen has now been named the CHL Player of the Week.

Steenbergen had two goals and a pair of assists against the Regina Pats on Wednesday, before his first-career four-goal game, while adding an assist, in a 7-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The nine-point effort puts the 19-year-old Steenbergen at 11 points through three games of the 2017-18 WHL regular season, tied for first place in the WHL as well as the entire CHL with Dante Hannoun of the Victoria Royals - Hannoun has had four games to Steenbergen's three to achieve the mark.

Last season was a breakout year for the Sylvan Lake, Alberta-born Steenbergen, as he tallied 51 goals and 39 assists for a 90-point season.

The offensive outburst helped the 5-foot-10, 181-pounder get selected in the fifth round (128th overall) by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2017 NHL Draft.

After getting reassigned back to the Broncos from the pro club last month, Steenbergen certainly looks to be on his way towards another productive season.

As well, he and the Broncos look to build on their 3-0 record with a road game in Saskatoon on Friday against the Blades, and their home-opener on Saturday at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex when they host the Kootenay ICE.

Steenbergen's nod as both the WHL and CHL player of the week follows Shaunavon-native and Kelowna Rockets forward Kole Lind, who won those same awards in Week 1 after eight points in two games to start the season.
