It's a project that has been in the works for some time; now, the Stockade building will be transformed into an indoor soccer facility in the coming weeks.

Announced at City Council on Monday night, the Swift Current Soccer Association has reached an agreement with the City to use the facility for office space and indoor soccer.

Director of Parks and Recreation, Dean Robson spoke on the move.  "Swift Current Soccer has been looking at a venue that they could consistently use.  Right now, we've found one in the Stockade; the former curling facility.  They are going to take over the upper lounge year round for office space and storage.  As well, at some point, they will do a user agreement in regards to hourly rental of the facility as a sports, specifically soccer, facility."

A new soccer sport floor is set to be installed in the coming weeks.
