The Home Hardware Legionnaires are off to a perfect start.

Swift Current picked up a win yesterday in their opening game of the 2015-2016 regular season at the Credit Union iPlex, 5-3 over the Notre Dame Argos.

Trailing 2-0 early in the 2nd period, the Legionnaires scored 4 unanswered goals and didn't look back.

Legionnaires forward Tristian Carey says it feel good to open the season with a victory.

"It's always nice to get the win, and we played pretty good. We came out kinda slow in the first period, but in the second and third, things started clicking and the puck started going in,s o it was a pretty good with for the boys," he said.

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, forward Matthew Jones says the intermission was key for Swift Current to turn the game around.

"The coaches came in and gave us a pretty good rant and our captain does a good job of getting us wound up so I definitely think that helped," he said.

Jones played a key part in the game, finding the back of the net twice, while also picking up an assist.

Special teams also played a crucial role in the Legionnaires win. Swift Current went 2 for 5 on the power play, and also picked up a short-handed goal on Notre Dame's lone power play.

The Legionnaires will now head to Notre Dame on Wednesday for their next game, however instead of the Argos, Swift Current will be battling the Hounds.
