Already off to the best start in the program’s six-year history, the Great Plains College SunDogs men’s volleyball team further established its position atop the Prairie Athletic Conference with road wins Friday and Saturday over the Kelsey Amaruks.

Friday, the SunDogs went to five sets for just the second time all season, eventually pulling off a 25-19, 17-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13 win. Saturday’s win improved the SunDogs’ record to 6-0 and was their third straight-sets victory of the year, winning 25-19, 25-22, 25-17.

On the women’s side, GPC dropped to 0-6 with straight sets losses to Kelsey on Friday (13-25, 18-25, 17-25) and Saturday (18-25, 12-25, 9-25).

The next league action for both teams is Wednesday, when they host the Millar Edge in a game that will double as the annual Battle of the Southwest. The only Battle win in SunDogs history belongs to the women, who claimed victory in 2009, while the men are 0-5 in the event’s history.

Women’s action begins at 6:30 p.m. while the men play at 8 p.m. Both games will be played at O.M. Irwin School.
