After making playoffs for the first time since the 2011-12 season, more good news came for the Home Hardware Legionnaires stemming from a successful regular season where the team went 26-13-1-4.

After logging 64 points (23 G, 41 A) in 42 regular season games this year, leading scorer Hunter Lamb now sits first all-time in regular season games played and second all-time in regular season points for the organization.

The forward's 133 regular season games played are just one more than Alex Laird's former record set over a period from 2008-11.

The 127 points (45 G, 82 A) Lamb put up in that stretch puts the Swift Current product in the company of undoubtedly the organization's most prominent player ever.

Lamb's 127 points trail only that of current 19-year NHL veteran Patrick Marleau, who posted a blistering 219 (102 G, 117 A) in just 86 regular season games.

"It feels great," said Lamb. "This is my hometown so obviously I want to do good, but I had no idea I was that high for sure - especially with Patrick Marleau... just to be at his calibre kind of just feels good."

Of course Marleau, a native of nearby Aneroid, went on to be drafted 2nd-overall by the San Jose Sharks. Now with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he has piled up 1116 points (528 G, 588 A) over 1557 career regular season games in the NHL.

As for the 17-year-old Lamb, whose WHL rights are held by the Calgary Hitmen after being drafted in the 9th round (196th) of 2015 Bantam draft, he hopes this recent success can translate to the next level.

"I just hope to take what I've done this year and hopefully move it forward to my junior career," he said.

Still focused on the present however, Lamb and the Legionnaires are in the midst of a neck-and-neck battle with the Tisdale Trojans in their Sask Midget AAA Hockey League quarter-final series.

Tied 1-1 in the best-of-five series, Lamb and the Legionnaires look to regain the series lead Tuesday night in Tisdale.
