A great start to the season for both Swift Current's U14 girls soccer club teams.

The division 2 and division 3 teams each won gold at the Lakewood Kickstart tournament in Saskatoon last weekend.

Dale Perry coaches both sides and didn't know what to expect from their third division team.

"I was totally unprepared, I mean we could have gone there and lost 5 games and I'd maybe not been surpised by that. The reason that I say that is that we were playing teams from Weyburn and Battlefords, similar sized communities that have only one team and we were beating them with our second team."

Perry says it's not how they start the season... it's how they finish.

He also coaches they very successful Ardens high school team.

He tries to explain their strength.

"Maybe it's something in the water here. You can't have success without a dedicated bunch and they have that. We can't just snap our fingers and make it work. The kids have great talent we just focus it and it turns out good."

But Perry says they have a lot of work to do ahead of their home tournament on the weekend of the 26th.
