Four members of the Swift Current Barracudas Swim Club were in Winnipeg this past weekend attending the ManSask SC Championships, but it was one of the members in particular who stole ths show.

Jo Carleton, Quinn Mittelholtz, Elliot Duncalfe, and Griffin Duncalfe represented the southwest swim club, with Griffin hauling in a nearly-literal pile of medals.

At Winnipeg's PanAm Pool, the 13-year-old Irwin Middle School attendee collected four gold medals, and three silver medals in individual events.

Gold:

  • 100m Butterfly
  • 400m Freestyle
  • 200m Butterfly
  • 200m Freestyle

Silver:

  • 50m Backstroke
  • 50m Butterfly
  • 200m Individual Medley

Duncalfe also added a relay medal to his haul at the meet. He swam the Butterfly leg of the 4x50m medley relay for the 13U Sask team, knocking off team Manitoba for the gold.

The seven top-2 individual finishes meant Duncalfe tied the Provincial Age Group individual High Point award with Moose Jaw Kinsmen Flying Fins' Daniel Liew.

The Southwest swimmer also was awarded the Overall Age Group Individual High Point trophy.

It was certainly a strong finish for Duncalfe and the Swift Current Barracudas Swim Club, who were among more than 330 swimmers from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Ontario.
