Swift Current will be hosting the best minor baseball teams in Western Canada over the next two summers.

The city won the right to host the 2013 and 2014 Western Canadian Baseball Championships in the Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget AA divisions.

It will be great for the baseball community in Swift Current and the city as a whole.

"There will be a lot of new people coming here from out of province, so it will bring a lot of people coming in, staying at the hotels, (eating at) restaurants, seeing a lot of great ball over the weekend, so it will be great," said Angela Schultz, The chair of the bid committee. "We will be using the Swift Current Indians diamond for the midgets then using the midget diamond for the bantams so we will have to put a temporary fence to make the distance right. We will have to bring bathrooms in but other then that it is good to go."

Schultz added they are always looking for volunteers to help out with the event, and those who are interested can reach her at 741-5929.
