A strong all around game for the Swift Current Indians earned them a win in their home opener yesterday afternoon.

For the second time in as many days, the Tribe got the better of the Moose Jaw Miller Express, this time by a score of 10-2.

Indians' Starting Pitcher Luke Wiechec went six scoreless innings for the win and after the game said the early momentum can only help the ball club.

"Yeah, that is always good, especially when we all came in just a couple days ago to get used to each other and seeing how everything is going to go, so two big wins definitely helps promote team chemistry a little quicker then some other teams if you were to lose. When you win everyone is happy," he said.

Swift Current Right Fielder Brett Brittany finished a single shy of the cycle, going 3-4 and knocking in three runs.

For Brittany, it was all about sticking to the basics.

"See the ball, hit the ball, that is basically it," said Brittany.

The Tribe jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, before adding three in the fourth and two more in the fifth to blow the game open.

Having already defeated the Miller Express 8-0 Saturday night, Manager Joe Carnahan has been impressed with the pitching, which as only surrendered two runs over eighteen innings.

"They're talented, you know? They are keeping the ball down and throwing strikes. We are playing good defense behind them. I think we have turned six double plays in the last two days. When you can do that, it really takes the air out of an opponent," he mentioned.

The Tribe will have the day off Monday before beginning a four game road trip in Melville Tuesday night.
