Veteran catcher Will Thorp is hoping his frustrating summer is turning just at the right time.

He struggled in only a few games to start the WMBL season before missing most of the summer with an injury.

Thorp recently returned to action and went 6 for his last 16 at the plate with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.

"I feel great right now," Thorp told Home Hardware's Overtime on The Eagle 94.1 FM. "It was a bit tough in the beginning. I felt like I was getting going there for a little bit and I got hurt."

Home Hardware's Overtime for July 29"Now things are clicking and I just want to play one game at a time, but it feels great right now."

Thorp hit .339 with 2 home runs and 21 RBI last summer for the Indians.

The veteran helped recruit a couple of key starters from his college team at Lewis Clark State Idaho. The additions of Michael Noteware and Anthony Armanino have been a big boost to the Indians despite Thorp being too hurt to catch for them.

"It's tough not catching a few of my buddies that came with me from school," he said. "I primarily brought them out so I could catch them and have a good time with them this summer and I've only been able to watch."

"Now that the playoffs get going, watching them do well, watching the young guys do so well behind the plate I'm happy to see everything work out so well as it has."

Recently the Indians have been showing their depth with players hitting in the lower part of their order playing big factors in some victories down the stretch..

"We've got a lot of mature guys on the team and you can tell they really don't care where they are in the lineup," Thorp said. "There aren't a lot of 'I' guys at all."

The Indians finished on top of the Central Division and are the top seed in the eatern side of the WMBL playoffs. They'll host Weyburn on Wedesday and Thursday before the best of five series shifts to Weyburn on Friday and Saturday if necessary.
