Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Manager George Bowditch announces the 2015 class on Saturday

The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame announced twelve new inductees on the weekend.

The class of 2015 includes former Swift Current Bronco and Weyburn native Dave "Tiger" Williams. Sask Hockey Hall of Fame Manager George Bowditch says people know Tiger as a real rough tough guy and a record holder of penalty minutes, but he also had success in the NHL as a goal scorer

"In junior, he was a sniper with the Broncos, and also with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks in the NHL, 'Tiger' had a couple of great seasons," he said. "One year, he potted 35 goals."

Other players being inducted are Kelvington's Wendel Clark, who played with the Saskatoon Blades and later had a long career with the Maple Leafs, the late Victor Lynn, who played with all of the NHL's Original Six teams between 1942 and 1962, and Guyle Fielder, who moved to Nipawin from Idaho as a child and played junior in Prince Albert and Lethbridge before turning pro.

In the builders category, the inductees are coach Dave King of North Battleford, Humboldt Broncos founder Dr. Gerry Rooney, and Regina's Jackie McLeod, who also played and coached with the Swift Current Indians baseball team. Bowditch says McLeod played five seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers but was also on the world champion Trail Smoke Eaters back in the 60's, which was a real accomplishment due to the lack of a national team.

"Jackie McLeod along with Father David Bauer actually started up the Canadian National Hockey Team, and it went on to have success, including a bronze medal and a few other things as they took on all the powers in the world with basically amateur players," he added.

In the grassroots category, Humboldt's Elgar Petersen was inducted this year. Bowditch says Petersen has been involved with the Humboldt Broncos franchise since day one as a volunteer, and the hockey arena in Humboldt is named in his honour.

Kevin Muench was elected as an official, and the 2002-03 Humboldt Broncos, 1932 Saskatoon Quakers, and the Simpson Flyers were added as teams.

The 2015 induction banquet will be held in Humboldt this summer.

The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame is located in the upper level of the Credit Union iplex in Swift Current, and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, and on Broncos game days from 1:00-4:00pm and 6:00-7:00pm.
