Tim Tisdale

The K-Motel Midget AA Hurricanes will have a Broncos legend behind the bench this season.

Tim Tisdale is taking over from fomer coach Sean Chapman. He has moved on to manage the Cypress Cyclones Junior B team.

Tisdale plans to approach AA the same way he did when coaching the Midget AAA Home Hardware Legionnaires.

"If you treat it as anything less than that you give the kids an out," Tisdale said.

"We're going to run it as close to a AAA philosophy as we can."

Tisdale's main focus will be on player development. He believes even the oldest players on a Midget AA team have opportunities to extend their careers.

Tisdale doesn't intend to force a style of play on the Hurricanes.

"You can't make certain players play a certain way," Tisdale said.

"It's about analyzing the talent you have and the coach has to go in with an open mind."

The former Bronco scored the winning goal for Swift Current in the 1989 Memorial Cup. He went on to a coaching career with the WHL's Regina Pats, RMJHL's Kimberley Dynamiters and the Midget AAA Legionnaries.

Hurricanes camp starts on Friday and Tisdale says the more advanced registration they get the easier it will be for their management team.
