Colts Charger 4
The Colts fell 2-0 to Saskatoon Centennial Saturday morning

The season did not end they way the Swift Current Comp. Colts volleyball team had hoped it would.

Playing host to the 2015 5A SHSAA Boys Provincial Championship over the weekend, the Colts got off to a strong start Friday, but were unable to maintain that momentum on Saturday.

Swift Current began the tournament winning their first three matches on Friday jumping out to a 3-0 record and setting up a Saturday morning clash for top spot in Pool 'A' against Saskatoon Centennial.

Beginning at 10:00am on Saturday, the Colts and Centennial Chargers took the court, with each team looking to win the pool.

Unfortunately for Swift Current, the opening set seemed to be over not to long after it got started.

The Colts fell behind earlier and were unable to mount any kind of comeback, dropping the first set 25-8.

In the second set, Swift Current battled but once again were unable to put much pressure on the Chargers, as Centennial cruised to a 25-18 second set victory, winning the match 2-0.

The loss to Centennial meant a much tougher road ahead for the Colts.

Now, instead of taking on Estevan in the quarterfinals, the fourth seed in Pool 'B', Swift Current would have to go up against a tough Regina Campbell squad.

In their quarterfinal match, Campbell jumped out to an early lead and managed to maintain it throughout the first set en route to a 25-15 first set win.

Entering the second set of the match and needing to win it in order to keep their season alive, the Colts were continued to fight.

The second set became a back and forth affair with neither team able to pull ahead by anymore than a two or three points.

However, in the middle stages of the set, a couple of missed serves from Swift Current and strong attacks from Campbell gave the Tartans some breathing room.

Regina would then go on to eliminate Swift Current, winning the second set 25-20.

In the end, Prince Albert St. Mary claimed the gold medal defeating Saskatoon Centennial 2-0 (25-18, 25-21) in the final and Regina Campbell won the bronze with a 2-0 (25-23, 25-14) victory over Weyburn.
