It was a tough weekend for Southwest volleyball teams at SHSAA provincial tournaments over the weekend.

There were two Southwest reps at 1A girls provincials in Rose Valley, with both Fox Valley and Frontier competing.

Frontier finished the tournament with a record of 0-4.

They lost to Englefeld 2-0, Plenty 2-0, Midale 2-0 and Perdue 2-0, and did not advance to playoffs.

Fox Valley, meanwhile, had a record of 1-3 with losses to Rose Valley 2-0, Dinsmore 2-1 and Goodsoil 2-0 and a victory over Lemberg 2-0.

The 1-3 record placed Fox Valley 4th place in Pool B.

In the quarter-finals the Legends had to play the 1st place team from Pool A, Englefeld.

Fox Valley dropped both sets 25-10, 25-13 and were eliminated.

In 4A action the Maple Creek Rebelles represented the Southwest at provincials in Lanigan.

However, the Rebelles were unable to get much going, finishing 0-4 with losses to Lumsden 2-0, Lanigan 2-0, Tisdale 2-0 and Caronport 2-0.
