The Swift Current Indians need help; otherwise, they may not field a team for the 2010 season this summer.

That was one of the messages from an informational meeting hosted by the ball club last night.

The Swift Current Indians are looking for two major things, which are an influx of energy from new volunteers, and a financial commitment of $40,000 so they can move forward for the 2010 season.

Indians President Brad Woods says it's a critical time for the ball club.  He says the financial commitment will put the wheels in motion.  "The $40,000 gives us the confidence that we can move forward.  That dollar figure will need to be done by the end of November.  Is it having cheques in hand by that time?  That would be great, but I think it's more about the commitment from the community."

Woods hopes the information is now spread around to shed some light on their situation.  "I wanted this to be an information sessions so people know where we are, and where we need to go.  I think people that were here tonight will take this information and share it with colleagues and friends."

Woods says a number of factors have contributed to the ball club's financial downturn.  Namely, the weather in June has hurt attendance the last two years, a lack of local players as of late has hurt attendance, and also led to more money being used for player recruitment.
