The Swift Current Indians picked up 2 Canadian's, both coming to Swift Current with impressive offensive numbers.

Nate Ackerman, a Langley, BC product, playing left field at Wayne State College in Nebraska has hit for a .339 average with 14 home runs and 47 RBI's through 45 games this season.

Indians coach Joe Carnahan has high hopes for Ackerman this season after suffering an injury last year.

"He played 3 games for us, and right away we could see that he had some pop in the bat. He made an instant impact for us in those 3 games he played. We expect him to hit in the middle of the order for us. We're happy to have him ready to go for the full season ".

The Tribe also added Kevin Czarnecki, a 1st Baseman from Edmonton.

Czernecki is currently playing his senior year at Fort hays State University in Kansas, where he has accumulated a .415 batting average, along with 12 home runs and 41 RBI's in 47 games.

Carnahan, feels Czarnecki can also be an important piece for the Indians this year.

"He can flat out hit. We're looking forward to having him this year. He's a middle of the order type bat, and swinging the bat from the left side, in our park it's a little bit more friendly for left-handed hitters. It's going to be a big positive having him in the middle of the line up for us".

Swift Current will get the new campaign underway May 29th, when they host the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
