Tribe VS Stoon

The Swift Current Indians playoff hopes to a hit last night, as they fell 5-1 to the Edmonton Prospects at Mitchell Field.

After combining for 37 hits in there last 2 games, the Tribe's offence was unable to get much going last night, managing just 1 run on 6 hits.

The Indians were able to strike first last night, as Jose Rojas picked up his 20th RBI of the season knocking in Justin Esquerra with a 2-out double.

The lead was short-lived though. In the top of the 4th, Edmonton scored 3 runs on 4 hits to jump out in front 3-1.

The Prospects then added to their lead in the top of 5, plating another 2 runs. After Swift Current starting pitcher Andrew Malone retired the first 2 batters of the inning, he surrendered back-to-back singles and then a double, extending the Edmonton lead to 5-1.

The Tribe tried to get back in the game. Swift Current had 2 men reach base safely in 3 of the final 4 innings, but they were unable to bring any of them home.

With the loss, the Indians are now 4 games back of the final wild card spot, currently being held by the Melville Millionaires.

The Tribe will need to win at least 4 of their final 6 games to have a chance of making the postseason.

The first of the 6 remaining games will be played tonight at Mitchell Field, as the Indians play host to the Yorkton Cardinals.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
