Broncos defenseman Reece Scarlett and Team Canada look to get into the U-18 World Championship Semi-Finals

 

It's do or die for Broncos defenceman Reece Scarlett and Canada's U18 team.

They'll play the host Germans today in the quarterfinals in the World Championships, with the winner taking on Sweden in the semi-finals.

Broncos Coach Mark Lamb is an assistant coach for Canada.

 

The Detroit Red Wings are the first team to reach the NHL conference semifinals, as they completed sweep of Phoenix, with a 6-3 win over the Coyotes. Meanwhile, Coyotes fans are still wondering if this was the team's final game in the desert. The City of Glendale and the Goldwater Institute, who is holding up the sale of the team to the Hulsizer group, is meeting today in a last ditch effort to keep the team in Arizona. Jason Chimera of the Capitals and James Neal of the Penguins both scored double-overtime winners, as Washington beat New York 4-3 and Pittsburgh beat Tampa Bay 3-2 to take 3-1 series leads. The Buffalo Sabres beat Shaunavon's Braydon Coburn and the Flyers 1-0, and Anaheim dumped Nashville 6-3 to even their series up.

 

In Junior A, Frontier's Dayton Fossum had a goal and a helper as the La Ronge Ice Wolves tied up the ANAVET Cup at 2-2 with a 6-1 win over Portage in La Ronge. The home team has won all four games in the series so far. In the Doyle Cup between the BCHL and AJHL, Herbert's Blake Voth and the Vernon Vipers beat Spruce Grove 3-1 to tie the series at two games a piece
