The Western Hockey League announced today that Taylor Vause has been named the Eastern Conference finalist for the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy - WHL Humanitarian of the Year Award. Vause will go head-to-head with the Western Conference finalist (which will be revealed on Thursday, March 22nd). The winner will be announced at the 2012 WHL Awards Luncheon in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, May 2nd 2012.

The WHL Humanitarian of the Year Award recognizes the work players do to help and enhance the community they play in. Kyle Moir was the last Bronco to win the Award in 2006-07.

Taylor has spent countless hours in and around the community during his tenure with the Broncos. He has spoken at various schools about living and playing in the Western Hockey League with diabetes, taken part in annual Bronco and Swift Current events, including Skate with the Broncos, Swift Current’s Sports Week, monthly Read with the Bronco appearances and more.

In 72 games played this past season the 5’10”, 179lbs. Calgary, AB product led the team in scoring with 83 points (37G, 46A). He also ranked 15th in the WHL in points.

Vause is now playing with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League for the remaidner of the season
