2.28 seconds.

That's how close the Swift Current Broncos came to picking up their first win of the regular season last night as they hosted the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Wheaties tied the game in the dying seconds of regulation and would score the win in Overtime on a Broncos penalty, by a final score of 6-5.

Assistant Coach Andy Schneider was pleased though with his team's effort in general, and feels if they can go into the next game with a similar mentality, they should see success.

Taylor Vause had a hat trick on his birthday night, while Richard Nedomlel would pick up his first Western Hockey League goal as well. Rookie Steven Myland took the loss in net for the Broncos in his first regular season start.

Next action for the Broncos is Friday night in Brandon.
