Jaimen Yakubowski scored his second goal of the game with 4.1 seconds left in regulation to lift Moose Jaw over Swift Current 4-3 on Saturday night.

The Broncos had battled back from down 3-0 to tie the game with 2:23 seconds remaining in the third period only to have overtime snatched away from them.

Brayden Point stripped Dillon Heatherington of the puck in the corner in the final moments of the game and set Yakubowski up for the on-timer by rookie goaltender Travis Child.

"It's very deflating," said Broncos assistant coach Jamie Heward. "It hurts. It was one of those things where we had all the momentum... to not even get a point after battling back it hurts. All things being equal at the end of the day if we have a better start it might be a totally different hockey game."

It was a three point night for Yakubowski, while Point had a goal and an assist for Moose Jaw.

Coda Gordon scored the tying goal and had an assist for the Broncos. Carter Rigby and Tyler Steenbergen had the other Swift Current goals.

"Tons of positives," Heward said. "In the second and third period I thought we were fantastic at times."

"That's part of the learning process for young guys that the start of the game means everything."

Child stopped 23 of 27 Warriors shots to take the loss. He rebounded from a shaky start for the whole team when they allowed 3 goals on the first 9 shots, but ultimately ended up on the losing end of his second career WHL start.

"For him to battle back is a really good situation for him," Heward said. "It's a good building block for him. He can take it and say maybe I didn't have to best start that I wanted or the team wanted, but rallied and played well."

Zach Sawchenko won his sixth straight start for the Warriors making 28 saves on 31 Swift Current shots.

The Broncos have now lost three straight games as they prepare to host the four-time defending Western Conference champion Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday. You can hear the game live on The Eagle 94.1 FM with our pre-game show at 6:30pm.
