Weise

Former Swift Current Bronco Dale Weise opened the scoring for the Montreal Canadiens, and they held on for a 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins to take game seven of the series, and move on to the Eastern Conference Final.

The goal was the third of the playoffs for Weise, who now has five points in the post-season. Max Pacioretty and Daniel Briere also scored, and Carey Price made 29 saves.

Montreal was the only Canadian team to make it into the playoffs this year, and they'll next face the New York Rangers for a berth in the Stanley Cup final. The series starts Saturday afternoon at the Bell Centre.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Kings remain the NHL's toughest team to put down, after forcing Game 7 against the Anaheim Ducks with a 2-1 win. LA had dropped three straight before beating the Ducks. The Kings had already rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the first round to stun the San Jose Sharks.

Game seven of the series will go Friday in Anaheim with the winner facing Chicago in the Western Conference Final.

In Junior A, Swift Current's Daylan Gatzke and the Yorkton Terriers are still alive at the RBC Cup in Vernon, BC. They beat Carleton Place 3-1 to get their first win of the tournament, and get into a tie with the host Vipers for third with one game to go.

They take on the Dauphin Kings this afternoon to wrap up the Round Robin.
