Teammate Zack Kassian was suspended for five regular season games and the rest of the pre-season for a hit that broke the jaw of Oilers forward Sam Gagner in the same game.
The league also announced that Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson has been suspended for 10 regular season games after he jumped off the bench to take part in a line brawl during a game against Buffalo on Sunday.
The NHL pre-season continues tonight with seven games, and the regular season starts on October 1st.
