Losers of their last two games, a complete game shut-out from Dustin Wells was a welcomed sight for the Swift Current 57's Tuesday night in Fort McMurray.

The 5'11" southpaw picked up his third win on the mound in as many starts, as the 57's knocked off the Giants 5-0 in their first ever visit to Shell Place.

Having faced the minimum through two innings, Swift Current was able to get Wells some run support in the top of the 3rd.

With one-out and runners on second and third, Blake Adams singled to score both runs, and then later came around to score on a Nick Canas base hit.

Although no lead is ever safe, Wells made the 3-0 advantage feel as secure as possible.

The Glendale, Arizona native went on to retire nine of the next ten batters he faced as the score remained 3-0 after 5.

In the top of 6 Swift Current increased the advantage to 4-0 when Kyle MacDonald knocked home Keil Krumwiede with a RBI single.

For Fort McMurray they were finally able to get something going in the bottom half, but Wells avoided any damage.

After the Giants loaded with bases with nobody out, Wells induced a fly-out to third and a 4-6-3 double-play to get out of the inning with the shut-out still in place.

A Mason Brown two-out single in the top of the 9th added another insurance run for Swift Current giving the 57's a 5-0 lead.

Three outs away from the complete game shut-out, Wells gave up back-to-back singles to start the inning, but then induced a fielder's choice, before ending the game with two straight strike-outs.

With the victory, the 57's improved to 20-11 on the season and moved into a tie for first place in the WMBL's East Division with the Regina Red Sox, following Regina's 4-1 loss to Weyburn Tuesday night.

Swift Current will be back in action on Wednesday as they once again battle Fort McMurray.

From there the 57's will head to Edmonton for games Thursday and Friday against the Prospects, before returning home to Mitchell Field on Saturday to host Moose Jaw.
