An important three game stretch begins tonight for the Diamond Energy Female Midget 'AAA' Wildcats.

Currently two points ahead of the Notre Dame Hounds in league standings, Swift Current's next three games will all come against Notre Dame starting Wednesday night in Wilcox.

Although the three game stretch may have playoff implications, Wildcats Head Coach Terry Pavely says they don't want to get to far ahead of themselves.

"At the end of the day it is a process and we want to get better and better and play our best hockey in February," he said.

"It is a good test for us though. It is almost like a mini playoff series, which is a good learning experience for us. If we can win two of three I think it probably puts Notre Dame out of the picture of possibly even catching us down the road."

Looking ahead to the game, Pavely says scoring can be hard to come by against the Hounds.

"They have a few really good players but the backbone of their team is their goaltending," he said.

"There goaltenders are maybe the best two in the league, and if not, they are right at the top of it. We are going to have to make sure that we get lots of traffic in front of the net and make it difficult for their goalies."

Puck drop for tonight's contest between Swift Current and Notre Dame is scheduled for 8:00pm.

The Hounds and Wildcats will then take part in a home-and-home this weekend to wrap up the three game stretch.
