The Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats outscored opponents 28-6 in a trio of preseason games at their home tournament over the weekend.

The Wildcats opened their preseason tourney with a resounding 9-2 win over the Pembina Valley Hawks on Friday. They continued the trend with a one-sided 14-1 victory over the Pilot Mound Buffaloes on Saturday. Closing out play, the Wildcats edged U16 Team Sask 5-3.

As she's done through her first two seasons in the league, forward Taylor Lind led the way offensively. She had 12 points (4 G, 8 A) over the weekend.

Forward Ashlee Wolfe posted a solid nine points (3 G, 6 A), while fellow forwards Sara Kendall (3 G, 4 A) and Crystal Wale (3 G, 3 A) averaged two or more points-per-game.

Ten more Wildcats had two or more points in the tourney in what's been a strong start to the season for the team.

However, stronger competition is expected throughout the SFMAAAHL season.

The best test of course came in the 5-3 win over U16 Team Sask, with a pile of talent mostly from around the SFMAAAHL brought together.

Lind had two goals and two assists in the tilt, Kate Wagner had a pair of assists, while Wale, Brooklyn Rublee, and Carissa Hogan added solo goals. Ryleigh White chipped in with a helper as well.

Swift Current is now off until they open the season against the Saskatoon Stars September 29-30 at Fairview West arena.
