The fourth and final meeting of the regular season between the Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats and Notre Dame Hounds proved the same eventual story line, much to the chagrin of the Wildcats.

Coming off losses of 1-0 (OT), 3-2 (double-OT), and 4-3, the Wildcats continued the improbable run against the Hounds, falling 2-1 in OT at Fairview West.

The fourth-straight one-goal loss to the Hounds, and ninth in total this season, came just 35 seconds into the overtime frame on the penalty-kill.

"Well we were pretty good, but we've got to learn how to win. I mean that's nine one-goal games this year. At some point we've got to win," said Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely, noting the fact his team played good for the majority of the game hasn't been enough. "We can't lose to the same team four times in a row, like sometimes you've got to have a little bit of fire in your belly and say we're going to find a way to win this game, rather than lose it."

The first period was scoreless, but Notre Dame scored their first of two power play goals in the game just 12 seconds into the second period. Swift responded with their lone goal at the 13-minute mark of the middle frame as passes from Taylor Lind and Sara Kendall set up a Toni Theaker point shot that snuck past Hounds' goalie Kaitlyn Ross.

The veteran Ross stopped 22 of 23 shots for the W, while an equally impressive performance saw Wildcats' rookie netminder Amaya Giraudier stop 25 of 27. Both goalies are tied for third in the SFMAAAHL with a 2.04 goals-against-average.

The Wildcats turn their attention to a regular season finale weekend in Saskatoon against a high-flying Stars team that looks to be in fine form ahead of playoffs.

Coming into this game the Stars have won eight straight, out-scoring opponents 61-13 during that stretch.

"If we're not awake, we'll get awoken," Pavely admitted. "We played them before Christmas and they were tired, they looked tired, and we took advantage of that and had a good weekend, but they've been playing really good hockey right now and we're going to have to be on our absolute best if we want to get some points out of Saskatoon and continue to play well."

The Wildcats (12-9-1-4) and Stars (19-3-3-1) face off Saturday night at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2:15 p.m.
