The Wildcats and Hounds face off during last night's game. The Hounds came out on top 5-1.

The Swift Current Female AAA Midget Diamond Energy Wildcats fell 5-1 at the hands of the Notre Dame Hounds last night.

Despite the loss Wildcats Head Coach thought the team's level of competion was where it needed to be.

“Our effort was pretty good. We fought for 60 minutes and we did a lot of good things but we just have to eliminate the real big mistakes. I mean three or four of the goals were simply a result of just really bad plays on our part, you know giveaways, or not moving the puck quick enough, or a bad penalty and they get a powerplay goal so I mean we just got to find a way to eliminate those catastrophic mistakes.”

He says thier plan is to keep putting in the effort and the wins will come.

“We want to try and keep playing the way we're playing...eliminate those big mistakes, see if we can find a way to get on a little bit of a roll and get rewarded for the effort we have (put in) now because we have been playing pretty hard, and competing hard we just have to find a way to finish once in awhile.”

Amy Murray stopped 36 shots in the losing effort while Jill Kennedy's 11th goal on the season was the Wildcat's lone marker.

Next up Swift Current hosts Weyburn twice over the weekend.

The first game of the two game set is on Saturday, at 7:45 PM at Fairview West.
