Wildcats' goalie Jasey Book stopped 23 shots in Saturday's loss

The Diamond Energy Female Midget 'AAA' Wildcats came out on the losing end of a couple of close games over the weekend against the league's top team, the Saskatoon Stars.

Saturday night, the Wildcats dropped a 3-1 decision to the Stars before falling 3-2 in a shootout yesterday afternoon.

Wildcats Head Coach Terry Pavely says one tough period in Saturday's contest was the difference in the weekend.

"We gave up a goal really quickly to start that second period and we got in a rut and just could not get out of it. Usually when two good teams play it might be five minutes here where one team takes control and five minutes there where the other team takes control but it was a twenty minute rut that we could not get out of and we were really dominated for twenty minutes," he said.

Pavely also said that despite the final result there were still lots of positives to take away from the weekend.

"The shots were pretty well even over the weekend. We went toe-to-toe with them for sixty minutes on Sunday. It was a great hockey game for people that were there. It was a really entertaining, hard hockey game with a really high pace. That is one thing we stressed to our players as well, the pace that those two games were at is where we want our pace to be night in and night out," he said.

The Wildcats will now prepare to host the Notre Dame Hounds on Wednesday.
