The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats are coming off of a split on the weekend with Melville.

This weekend they will play a Saskatoon team who lost quite a few players from last year, but are still considered a top club.

"Depth of the female hockey in Saskatoon and the surrounding area is very good," said Wildcats Coach Terry Pavely. "They have put together another good team and I think for us the big thing is as much as we want to score more goals we can't get into a big run and gun game back and forth hockey game. We are going to have to play a little ugly, we are going to have to cycle the puck and take away the middle in the defensive zone."

The Wildcats are 2-3 on the season. Saskatoon sits with a record of 3-2 and is two points ahead of Swift Current in the standings.

Swift Current's coach has been pleased with certain elements of their game so far.

Shawn Mullin Interviews Terry Pavely"Our d-zone coverage has been really, really strong this year," added Pavely. "Even though if we have got outshot, we haven't really got out chanced a lot of nights. So just be really solid in the d-zone and when we get opportunities to get puck outs, we need to get pucks out and odd man opportunities we just need to get pucks to the net."

Pavely would like to see his team shoot the puck more, especially on the power play.

The two games against Saskatoon this weekend will both be played at the Fairview West arena. The game Saturday night is set for 7:45 p.m and the game Sunday afternoon will go at 3:00 p.m.
