Taking on the last-place Weyburn Gold Wings, the Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats needed a methodical weekend, and to claim all six points on the road.

That is exactly what Swift Current did, as they grabbed a 7-2 win on Saturday, and 9-1 win on Sunday to earn a sweep in the southeast, and push their win streak to a eight-straight.

Saturday's start may not have been exactly what the Wildcats were looking for - both Gold Wings goals came in the first ten minutes of the first period to take a 2-0 lead.

Swift Current promptly responded with a pair before the first intermission to tie it up and not look back.

The Wildcats scored four in the second and one in the third for the five-goal margin of victory.

Amaya Giraudier needed just 12 stops on 14 shots for the win.

Swift Current out-gunned the Gold Wings 49-16, and went 1-for-10 on the man-advantage, compared to a sluggish 0-for-11 for Weyburn.

They added a short-handed strike as well.

Sunday was a different story offensively, though the end result was similar.

A stronger start saw a 2-0 Wildcats lead after one and a 7-1 lead after two, before a pair of third-period goals were added with the game out of reach.

This time, the Wildcats were a blistering 3-for-8 on the power play, again adding a short-handed goal.

Meanwhile, the Gold Wings again went 0-fer on 8 chances, as Swift out-shot them 38-14 in the contest. Harper Davey made 13 stops for the W.

Nine Wildcats averaged a point-per-game or higher over the two games.

6 - Taylor Lind (4 G, 2 A)
5 - Tobi Fontaine (3 G, 2 A)
4 - Carissa Hogan (2 G, 2 A)
4 - Sara Kendall (1 G, 3 A)
4 - Crystal Wale (1 G, 3 A)
3 - Maddy McCleary (1 G, 2 A)
3 - Brooklyn Rublee (1 G, 2 A)
2 - Baylee Kirwan (1 G, 1 A)
2 - Kate Wagner (2 A)

Lind now sits at a lofty 53 points on the season. The captain leads the league, with a 17-point gap between her and the number two spot.

Swift Current's six-point weekend aided them in climbing up into third place in the SFMAAAHL standings. The Wildcats (13-9-1-1) sit one point up on the Prince Albert Northern Bears (11-8--3-2), as both teams have four regular-season games to go.

The Wildcats have next weekend off, and aren't back into the regular-season schedule until a home weekend against the Melville Prairie Fire February 9-10.

The February 9 tilt runs 11:30 a.m. from the Innovation Credit Union iPlex, as part of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada.
