A one-sided weekend finished as it started for the Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats.

Hosting the Weyburn Goldwings at Fairview West arena, the Wildcats piled up a 10-0 win on Saturday night and a 10-1 win on Sunday afternoon.

od we didn't think we played very well, but we found ways to score goals and we're not going to complain about that," he said. "We thought we were actually better in terms of controlling the puck in the second and third - we didn't turn it over as much as we did in that first period."

Swift Current slowed the game down in the final 40 minutes, only scoring once in the second period, and adding the final three goals in the third.

Amaya Giraudier recorded the shutout in net for Swift Current, as the Wildcats outshot the Goldwings 44-9.

As mentioned, Sunday's game was no different - aside from the first five minutes.

Just 1:40 into the game Weyburn's Janna Keisig put a puck past Harper Davey and into the Wildcats net for a 1-0 Weyburn lead.

"We came out flat, and we kind of expected that after beating them 10-0. We gave up a goal in the second shift of the game," Pavely said. "We weren't very good in the first, but the second and third we were really good."

Despite giving up the early goal, Swift bounced back to tie the game three minutes later.

The Wildcats carried a 3-1 lead into the first intermission, a 7-1 lead into the second, and finishing with that 10-1 win.

The shots were lop-sided once again, as Swift out-gunned the Goldwings 46-15 on Sunday afternoon. Harper Davey finished with 14 saves and the win.

Even though the Wildcats dominated over the weekend, it was a matchup that perhaps only helped their goal-differential and record.

"The bottom line is it's really not a great weekend for us - you get some bad habits. So we kept telling our kids to try and play the right way, try to do the right thing, try to stick to the plan. But it's hard - you get up, and kids just want to score goals."

That's exactly what the Wildcats did, as nine different skaters scored goals, while every skater on the roster recorded points in the two-game set.

It was a big weekend statistically for Taylor Lind, as her 9-point effort (5 G, 4 A) puts her season total at 40 (23 G, 17 A) through 18 games.

Also averaging two or more points-per-game were Baylee Kirwan and Trista Labarowski who each had three goals and two assists, as well as Layne Hryhoriw and Maddy McCleary who each racked up a goal and three assists.

Five other Wildcats added multi-point weekends - Carissa Hogan (3 G), Sara Kendall (2 G, 1 A), Brooklyn Colborn (1 G, 2 A), Tenelle Lind (1 G, 1 A), and Toni Theaker (2 A).

Rounding out the scoring, all with single assists, were Brynne Doerksen, Crystal Wale, Ryleigh White, Madison Garrett, Kamryn Johnson, and Kenedee Klevgaard.

Swift Current (9-6-0-3) now looks ahead to an important pair of road games this upcoming weekend. They'll be in Regina taking on a Rebels squad who is 10-5-0-2.

The two teams have met three times this season already - Swift took the first game 5-1 on September 30, Regina rebounded October 1 with a 3-1 win, then shut out the Wildcats 2-0 at the Mac's tournament in late-December.

"We'll make sure we have a hard week of practice, go over some of the things system-wise that we need to go over with," Pavely noted. "We just want to make sure that going into Regina next weekend for us, and we've got to be ready to play the right way, compete, and do all the little things."

As was the case ahead of their meeting at the Mac's tournament, Pavely said he'll be happy if his team has a chance to win the game in the final five minutes.

The Wildcats and Rebels play January 13 and 14, with Sunday's contest being broadcast live on The Eagle 94.1 with puck drop set for 11:30 a.m.
