After a tie and an overtime loss against Melville on the weekend, the female Midget AAA Diamond Energy Wildcats know they can't get higher than second last place in the league standings.

That means a playoff match up with one of the two power house teams from Saskatoon or Notre Dame.

Wildcats Coach Terry Pavely says they've been playing well enough since Christmas to give those teams a run for their money.

“We've played the good teams really tough of late...our goaltending has been so solid the last two weekends. If that's the type of goaltending we get against either a Saskatoon or a Notre Dame, we're going to be able to compete.”

Pavely says they'll be working on a few things heading into the post-season.

“(we're going to) continue to work on defensive zone coverage, because again we can't give up five (goals), because we know we won't probably have a chance then. We're going to have to work on our specialty teams, especially our powerplay, and then just do alot of drills where we're going to the net, getting point shots, getting traffic in front of the net.”

Pavely says goal scoring has been their biggest issue and it's something they will work on as they have the weekend off from games and can focus their energy on practice.
