Wildcats Vs Bears
The Wildcats defeated Prince Albert twice over the weekend

The Diamond Energy Wildcats had a strong weekend of play, as they hosted the Prince Albert Bears in their first 2 home games of the season.

On Saturday, the Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and survived a pair of 3rd period goals by PA to defeat the Bears 4-2.

Chloe Smith scored a pair of goals for Swift Current, while Alex Gray and Kate Scidmore each found the back of the net once.

In Sunday's contest, the Wildcats used two third period goals from Dayna Winzer for a come from behind 2-1 win over the Bears.

Head Coach Terry Pavely, says it was a solid performance from his team throughout the weekend.

"We though on Saturday we were pretty good and executed pretty well. Our power play was pretty good on Saturday. Then we had a nice comeback win on Sunday when we weren't at our best. I though we looked a little sluggish for two periods and did a lot of chasing, but give credit to our players, they hung in there and at the end they went to the net hard two times in a row and made some good plays," he said.

Pavely also felt Sunday's come-from-behind win was important for the team.

"For our players to show some character was important. It would have been easy to throw in the towel. When things aren't going well and you aren't at your best, and you are going to have games like that it is all about how you respond. I thought the last twelve minutes of that game we were the much better team, and that is one of the things we really like about our team. With the skill we have, not that you want to promote only playing twelve minutes of a hockey game, but we really brought it at the end," he added.

Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to Saskatoon on Saturday to take on the Stars.

Meanwhile, the Kabos Bantam Raiders suffered a pair of losses over the weekend.

Swift Current fell 7-6 in Yorkton on Saturday, before dropping a 5-1 decision on Sunday in Weyburn.

The Raiders will return to the ice on November 7, when they host the Saskatoon Generals.
