The Swift Current Female AAA Diamond Energy Wildcats tied their second game of a two game set 2-2, yesterday afternoon, against the Weyburn Gold Wings dropping the opening game on Saturday.

Although they only got the tie, Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely says the effort was there.

“We really wanted a split, that was our ultimate goal and I think we played well enough, on the weekend, probably to earn a split, I mean we don't get it but...the biggest thing for us is we want our kids to compete hard and we did that. For both games, 120 minutes we competed hard.”

Pavely applauded the play of the wildcats' only goalscorer Jill Kennedy

“She's a skilled hockey player. Shoots the puck well, handles it well, and she's had a few opportunities where she's blocked pucks and ended up with breakaways. If she gets the puck in the slot...she shoots the puck so well, got such a quick release, that it makes it difficult for goaltenders so it doesn't matter what line she's playing on, who she's playing with, she doesn't mope or pout she just tries to make everyone better and she's being rewarded for it right now.”

Jill Kennedy continued to show an offensive touch as she had both goals for the Wildcats, scoring one on the powerplay and one while shorthanded.

Amy Murray made 37 saves in net.

The Wildcats wrap up the regular season with two games in Melville this weekend.
