A story out of Medicine Hat this week is shedding more light on the upcoming 2010 Ford World Women's Curling Championships set for Swift Current next year.

It has come out that Medicine Hat was actually the first choice for the location of the event after they successfully bid to host the Championships.

That is until the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL blocked the event from taking place citing the fact they would be kicked out of the Medicine Hat Arena for the first round of playoffs next season to accommodate the tournament.

The city backed the Tigers and the event had to be moved elsewhere.

It was then announced that Swift Current would host the event.  The Broncos had similiar concerns about giving up their facility but in the end, the Womens Worlds won out.

The event is slated for March 20-29 of 2010 at the Credit Union I-plex.
