The McCleary-Moen-Smith Swift Current Indians Golf Classic Organizing Committee is very excited to announce that Ottawa Senator Forward and former SC Bronco team captain, Zack Smith will join Travis Moen, Trent McCleary and the SC Indians as community partners this year in support of this outstanding event.

"This is an event I have played in and supported in the past, so getting involved was an easy decision,” said Smith in a phone interview last week. “I enjoyed my time in Swift Current and this is a great way to support the community and the kids programs the tournament helps pay for each year. Travis and Trent have done a lot of work over the years with this event, so if I can help out by getting involved, then I’m excited to do so."

As an organization The Indians rely heavily on the support of the community to operate each year, this golf tournament gives them an avenue to give back to the community. In addition, it gives the participants an opportunity to shake hands with some professional athletes as well as to meet some of the outstanding young men who provide us with a unique baseball experience each summer.

This year’s tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 17 with a shotgun start at 1:00 PM.

The McCleary-Moen-Smith-Indians Golf Committee is an Independent group of people who run the event annually in support of the Swift Current Indians Baseball Team and the programs they support including Boys and Girls on the Move, Outdoor Hockey and Elmwood Golf Course Family Night. Last year’s event saw a total of $9500 donated to offset some of the operating costs of these programs.

Smith and Moen will play each other in the first round of the NHL playoffs when the Ottawa Senators take on the Montreal Canadiens
