A Swift Current man will serve 18 months in prison after accidentally shooting another man in the foot.

29 year old Scott Davis pleaded guilty to counts including criminal negligence causing bodily harm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The Crown said Davis was channelling live rounds through a shotgun indoors when he pointed the weapon at another man's foot.

Thinking it was unarmed, Davis fired a bullet that hit the man and forced the amputation of his right big toe.

The Crown and defence made a joint submission agreeing to the 18 month sentence that Davis will start serving Thursday in Regina.
