Golfers across the southwest have packed up the clubs as the cold and snow approaches.

The Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current wrapped up the season late in October.

Their profits are down about $40,000 compared to last year's record-breaking take of $100,000.

Memberships were about the same, but green fees were down about $20,000 from last season. General Manager Sheldon Reinhart attributes that to the cold weather and floods in the early part of the season.

"May and even the first couple of weeks of June weren't great," Reinhart said. "But then after that it was an excellent summer."

Reinhart is still working at trying to bring in more young members. The vast majority of Elmwood's membership base is over 40 years old.
