Swift Current’s own Craft, Hobby and Gun show is celebrating a very special milestone this weekend at Kinetic Park.

Henry Banman, who organizes the bi-annual event, says is this weekend’s show not only is this the 49th ever, but also marks when the idea came to be.

"We do have a great event coming. 40 years ago this weekend. my wife and I started what we called then the Gun and Hobby show,” he said. “It's been going strong, and the reputation that the show has all over Western Canada is very very high.

“We’ve got a lot of jam-packed stuff in the Stockade,” he said. “It’s always a challenge to make sure all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed, but I think we’ve got it, and we’re looking forward to 10 o’clock.”

Banman says that not only is the show well received in the southwest and Saskatchewan as a whole, but also that people come from BC, Alberta and even the United States to partake.

“We’re grateful for that because it’s been very good, we’ve put a lot of effort into it,” he said, “And here we are, 40 years into the spring show, we’ve done nine fall shows, so this is show number 49.”

Banman says the 50th anniversary show will be this November. This weekend’s show will run 10-5 on Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday. It all goes down at Kinetic Exhibition Park.
