It has been an unseasonably warm fall so far in the southwest, and the month of September was one of the warmest, driest, and sunniest on record in Swift Current.

Jason Nimegeers, Agri-meteorologist with the local SPARC Station, says according to stats collected at the Research Station, this September was the 5th warmest and 25th driest in 126 years, and the sunniest in 89 years with a total of 289 hours of sunshine.

Nimegeers adds this type of weather was absolutley ideal for farmers in the area, and allowed for harvest to go quicker than it has in recent years.

The warm, sunny streak was broken by heavy rainfall on Friday, where 29mm of rain fell on Swift Current, but sunshine and mild weather has been with us for the Thanksgiving Long Weekend.

Seasonable weather is expected to continue this week, according to World Weather Inc. Meteorologist Drew Lerner in his Agri-Weather report today on Country Music Radio, where he says there will be some mild weather with a few chills in the air and some slight shower activity. You can hear Lerner's Agri-Weather reports every weekday at around 6:30am and 12:45pm on CKSW 570 and CJSN 1490.
