The new Mayor of the town of Maple Creek has been officially named.

Michelle McKenzie, who has been the interim Mayor since May 24th, came out victorious in the by-election that was held this past Wednesday.

McKenzie has some specific plans on what she'd like to accomplish as Mayor. She says, "I'd like to start building a strong foundation here for Maple Creek and with our strategic plan, and ya know, 2020 is coming, and we never know what the future holds. And the second thing is one of the concerns expressed was having input from the community."

She adds that she's hoping she and Council can meet quarterly with the community organizations to discuss issues.

McKenzie had a total of 405 votes, and her opponent in the by-election, Tina Cresswell, officially received 153 votes.
