A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory has been issued for Shaunavon residents on a portion of the 600 block of Fourth Street West, and a portion of the 500 block of Seventh Avenue West east of Kelly Drive, as well as 697 Third Street West and The Shaunavon High School.

The Advisory was put into effect on Monday due to a couple of bolts breaking on a valve at the intersection of Fourth Street West and Seventh Avenue West.

Shaunavon Chief Administrative Officer, Tara Fritz, explained saying "In all reality we had  noticed the valve on Friday, and we surveyed the valve and realized that it wasn't impacting any of the citizens during the weekend. So we chose to turn the valve and do the repair on Monday."

The repair ended up being a little bit larger than they initially expected, and crews had to depressurize the system, resulting in the Advisory being issued.

The valve has been repaired, and residents affected by the Advisory have been notified.

This follows another Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory that was issued last week. The Advisory was removed this past Thursday evening.
