Costumed bowlers take part in Ability Bowl 24 at the Frontier Bowling Lanes in Swift Current Saturday

It was time again to dress up and lace up those bowling shoes in Swift Current.

Ability Bowl 24 went Saturday at the Frontier Bowling Lanes in the annual fundraiser for the Saskatchewan Abilities Council.

"I'm brand new to the council, so it was my first Ability Bowl, and now I see why it's been going for 24 years," said Regional Director Marjory Tunney. "Everybody's had fun, we've had people here bowling since 9:00am this morning, everybody's in costume and having a good time."

Forty teams were registered for the event and by 4:00pm Saturday afternoon, over $63,000 was raised, with the money going to the Abilities Council to support their programming for the year.

"The Abilities Council programs rely on the funding that we receive from this event," Tunney said. "Our clients will continue to grow, and in order to put on the same level of programming, it costs more money."

The Ability Bowl had a goal of raising $83,000 this year.
