The City of Swift Current is one step closer to receiving a couple of improvements to infrastructure in the city.

Following a request to the Saskatchewan Municipal Boards to commence a sidewalk improvement and lane paving projects, an amendment had to be made to the plan to accommodate two funding models.

The sidewalk project funding was to be split between the City of Swift Current and the property owner, while the lane paving was funded entirely by the property owner.

The original resolution which birthed the projects came on January 28, and grouped the two projects into one, described as a 'Sidewalk Local Improvement Program.'

The next step for the improvements, according to council, is to re-apply for the upgrades, this time with two separate requests.

The lane paving project has an estimated cost of $77,137.40 of which the property owner will pay, and the sidewalk project will cost around $123,771.06.
