An annual Father's Day tradition in Swift Current closed a few blocks of Central Avenue North on Sunday.

19 homemade soapbox cars took to the streets to compete in the 35th Annual Swift Current SoapBox Race.

"It went very smooth, the weather was perfect for the races, there weren't any major breakdowns and things just went very well," Michael Hockridge, President of Swift Current Soapbox Association said. "It's always nice to see the families get together with their children and have a day of fun."

15 of the participants were from Swift Current Soapbox Association, with two from Moose Jaw and two more from Regina.

"It's always fun, the kids at least from Swift Current they've practiced for the last month and a half, so they were looking forward to this day," Hockridge added. "The energy and excitement on the actual race day on the hill is way better than practice."
