The Swift Current Area Ministerial Association Refugee Committee has been helping refugee families come to Canada for many years.

As they prepare to welcome their first family of 2019 to Swift Current, Sammy Khalife, Media and Public Relations Coordinator for the Swift Current Ministerial Association Refugee Committee, explains their goals. "Our goal is to help refugees, and that means to take them out from a war zone and bring them to a safe place and re-settle. Also, our duty is to set them for success. That includes language training and job entry level training."

The nine member family from Syria, who have been living in a refugee camp in Jordan for the past five years, are expected to arrive in Swift Current within the next couple of months.

The Ministerial Association will sponsor the family for three years.
