Members of the community from a Pro-Life organization were out demonstrating for their cause yesterday afternoon.

Swift Current and District Pro Life held the demonstration which saw 19 members of their organization holding picket signs with anti-abortion slogans on them.

The demonstration took place in the ditch between the Trans Canada Highway and South Service Road East near Regier Honda.

Muriel Nielsen, president of Swift Current and District Pro Life, said that the organization that has been active in Swift Curren since 1982.

Nielsen said that the national event saw people from across Canada demonstrate in much the same way.

"We stand for an hour, and not everyone stands along the highway, some people have it in downtown areas in busy sections, in bigger centers and that, but most of the cities now in Saskatchewan all have it," she remarked. "So there are about two hundred and seventy some across Canada today."

Neilsen said that throughout the year they also try to support parents or parents-to-be in need of assistance.

"We have an office in the Professional Building downtown, and we have baby boxes for all the new moms, and we have baby clothes and all kinds of supplies, diapers, that we give away free to moms and the families that need it."

"We're an education group, so we educated on the development on the growth of the unborn baby that shows that the baby is a human being right from the time of conception, and it just grows and develops throughout the nine months, and then also as any person grows after they are born, they are growing before they are born too."
